Wild & Weird Death…

Somewhat spontaneous theatre date.

Ross, my theater guru, texted me the other day and said I must see a new musical.

When the gauntlet is thrown I must accept the challenge.

Dead Outlaw is a creatively novel, quirky new play featuring great music and a talented cast.

Dead Outlaw is at the Minetta Lane Theatre, a great place to see a show, for a six week run through April 7th. If you are living in New York City or visiting then hustle down to Greenwich Village.

David Yazbek, Itamar Moses and David Cramer, the Tony-winning creators of the play, The Band Visit, reunite for this funny, quirky, macabre off-Broadway show about the traveling corpse of real-life criminal, Elmer McCurdy.

All I can say is the weirdness works.

The audience smiled and tapped their collective feet through the 1 hour 40 minute run.

After Dead Outlaw, the village was hopping and it was difficult to find a place for a drink and a bite.

There were lines everywhere, especially for L’Industrie Pizza which I recently reviewed.

Took the subway home from Christopher Street and wouldn’t you know there was not a cop or National Guardsman in sight, but there was a screaming homeless guy trying to stop the train doors from closing.
New York City…drama in the theater and on the streets.
