Weekend Distractions…

Weekend delights.

My go to TV guru recently recommended a new diversion.

Girls From Ipanema on Netflix, 2 seasons, 13 episodes.

As with chocolates you can’t eat just one so naturally I binged.

The series has English subtitles (Portuguese) and the sex scenes are more titillating then American or British TV, but it is a good ride embellished with fabulous bossa nova music and 50’s fashion.

You may need an adult beverage and an accompanying cigarette to feel part of the beautiful Rio cast.

The first season features gritty, heartwrenching drama.

Season two has flashes of soap opera turmoil, nevertheless, Girls From Ipanema is still highly engaging and the ending is a free fall.

A dear friend and Devil worshipper also turned me   onto the Masterpiece on PBS series, The Durrells in Corfu which has shades of being a blue collar Downton Abbey and the charm of well developed, intriguing characters

The Durrells in Corfu, available on Amazon Prime, is a 4 season 26-episode British comedy-drama series inspired by Gerald Durrell’s three autobiographical books about his family’s four years (1935–1939) on the Greek Island of Corfu.

The Durrells move en masse from England to the Greek island, Corfu, in 1935.

The patriarch has died and the quirky, eccentric family is struggling financially.

Try both.

I especially enjoyed the female empowerment which is an underlying theme in both series…liberating for the 1930’s and 1950’s timeframes.

I think you will be entertained and isn’t that what we are striving for while living in Coronaville?!
