I love the smell of victory in the morning.
It was a Magnificent Monday in Manhattan yesterday.
I am fully cognizant of the fact that many people are not sports fans.
I cannot relate, but I embrace those who have not seen the light…case in point, my husband.
I am down and dirty with the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
Yesterday, sports talk radio and local tv was buoyant over the fact that on this particular Sunday all 4 active New York sports teams won.
The NY Giants held on with a brilliant display of defense despite having the worst quarterback in the league. The Yankees came from behind to score 12 runs, including superstar Aaron Judge’s 58th and 59th home runs. The NY Jets sealed the deal in the final minute of the game and the NY Mets’ strong pitching effort earned the win.
This has had a huge effect on the city…I have not read or heard about any aggression on the subway or the streets of New York, no assaults or robberies…the only guns displayed were on the arms of the athletes.
Personally, I believe that Winning isn’t everything…it’s the only thing…kudos to Vince Lombardi.

But isn’t it the case that the fact that at least the two football teams have a recent history of losing most of the time make these victories extra sweet?
