I have been bombarded with emails from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, begging for money to crush the Republicans in the mid-term elections.

In conjunction with my in box taking a political turn, I came across an amusing article in the Raw Story, a progressive online news publication founded in 2004 by John Byrne. It covers national and international political and economic news.

It frequently features stories that it deems ignored by other media outlets. The following story in particular piqued my interest.

Jonathan Saenz
Jonathan Saenz

It appears that Jonathan Saenz, the leader of an anti-LGBT group who joined with Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott to ban same-sex marriage, had his own marriage end after his wife began a romantic relationship with another woman who was a teacher at the elementary school Mrs. Saenz taught at in Austin, Texas.

Ain’t karma a bitch.

According to court documents Corrine Morris Rodriguez Saenz was dating another woman when she filed for divorce from Jonathan Saenz in 2011.

Within six months, Jonathan Saenz took over as president of Texas Values, the state’s top anti-gay group. Saenz, a devout Catholic, has been a right-wing operative in Texas for many years, working on abortion and religious liberty cases.

Jonathan Saenz initially asked the court to refuse to grant the divorce and to bar any unrelated adult associated with his wife to be in the company of their 3 children.

At one point, he also sought to jail his ex-wife for failing to undergo an evaluation by a psychologist of his choosing even though he refused to pay the psychologist’s $2,500 fee. The kicker is that court records suggest Jonathan Saenz had a prior history of mental health treatment.

Jonathan Saenz filed a counter petition for divorce in May of 2013, accusing his wife of adultery. The divorce became final on Aug. 1, 2013.

Earlier this year, U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia ruled that Texas’ ban on same-sex marriage violated the Equal Protection clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Jonathan Saenz has been working alongside Attorney General Abbott, the Republican Party’s nominee for governor, to overturn the decision.

Isn’t all this effort to ban gay marriage a complete waste of time and money and yet another hate crime?

This coo coo bird has stated that same-sex marriage leads to polygamy and people marrying their stepchildren and suggested that gay activists want to put Christians in concentration camps.

If two people of the same sex love each other and want to be together, why should that be considered a heinous act?

Go after real criminals like rapists, pedophiles and leave people alone who just want to be together and love each other no matter the gender.

So many bad politicians and crazies come out of Texas. This is just another outrageous example of why Texas needs to secede from the Union and  please, take the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones with you.
