Sleep No More…

2am and I cannot sleep.

This is become a pattern, involving an involuntary wake up call.

Is it age, issues weighing heavily on my mind, Trump, over exercising, a threesome involving an adorable canine who regularly appears between me and my other bed partner, namely my husband.

According to the internet anxiety, stress and depression are some of the most common causes of chronic insomnia.

Other common emotional and psychological causes include anger, worry, grief (NY Giants season) and bipolar disorder.

I guess I am a classic example although I haven’t explored bipolar symptoms, but there are days where I can see that manifesting.

Morning Joe and I have a regular date. I think I must, figuratively, beat Joe and Mika to the studio.

Yesterday, Willie Geist was in my spin class.

Sweating while removing our tres chic bike clip on shoes, I commented, “I feel as if I know you since you are in my bedroom every morning.”

Geist replied, “I am going to take that in the vein in which it was said!”

Was that sexual harassment on any level…I plead fatigue and a perspiration drench brain.

Another depressing reality…I need to forgo adult beverages.

Unfortunately, middle of the night migraine alarms have me stumbling into the bathroom to gobble down migraine meds.

What happen to the good old rock ‘n roll days when I could drink any band member under the table…ah, such precious fluid memories.

The down side to waking up in the wee hours of the morning is experiencing evening fatigue.

The bright side is that the hours between 2-8am are like a dream sequence where there are limited emails, no phone calls, no demands other than preparing my hot water and lemon cocktail and relative quiet where most sleep and all is well with the world.

It also is special bonding time with my beloved lab, Madison.

Middle of the night writing sessions are surprisingly productive.

For some unexplainable reason I am clear headed and concise so I shall not push back to hard against my internal alarm clock.

One question…why is it so darn difficult to wake up and get out of bed for early morning exercise and 6am flights…those being such huge struggles.
