Kudos For Kitchen…Palm Beach Restaurant Review

What’s cooking in the Kitchen?!

During one of my sleepless nights I stumbled onto Kitchen, a contemporary American brasserie located in West Palm Beach.

It is an intimate, sophisticated restaurant with a small enclosed outdoor patio which I requested.

The front indoor dining area looked cozy, but I never ventured inside..

Owner and Chef Matthew Byrne started cooking at the age of 13. Ten years later he was working at Philadelphia’s finest restaurants. His culinary talents were recognized by Philadelphia’s elite and exposed Byrne to the private chef realm.

After working between Philadelphia and Palm Beach for 12 years, Matthew was recruited by Tiger Woods as his private chef.

In 2013 Kitchen was conceived.

The staff is accommodating and personable. Our server, Roxana, who is a lovely woman from Romania, couldn’t have been more helpful.

We started with a luscious Farmhouse Tomato Salad with cucumbers, onion, olives, Greek style feta and capers ($17).

Since I was still not feeling perky we shared the excellent sautéed locally caught Tile Fish (Daily Catch) with grape tomatoes, capers and lemon ($42).

The main came with two sides and we selected the fresh sautéed String Beans and Butternut Squash with Truffle oil and goat cheese. Both were delicious.

Initially not interested in dessert our server sang the praises of the Coconut Cake. I must admit to being a coconut cake virgin. Well, I am delighted to say I no longer am and are happier for it.

The huge slice was bathed in just the right amount of coconut icing and the yellow cake was moist and screamed homemade ($12).

The restaurant was packed.

The meal was delicious and reasonable for in season Palm Beach County prices.

My only criticism is it had no atmosphere or vibe other than older face lifted people with helmet head hairdos all blonde in color with gentleman in Polo shirts with sweaters casually tied around drooping shoulders.

But, Kitchen was still very good and far exceeds most Delray Beach and fancy pants Palm Beach dining establishments.

Kitchen West Palm Beach 319 Belvedere Road #2 West Palm Beach, Florida. Open Monday-Saturday starting at 5:30pm. Free Valet parking. Reservations on OpenTable.com.
