Fade to black.
The holiday weekend is history.
I learned some things, albeit a bit late.
Online shopping is fun and easy.
My method of taking full advantage of Black Friday is to peruse the brick and mortar, reach out and touch, try on and then go home and save more, click and send.
I am up by 2-3am every night (I don’t know why) so I let my fingers do the shopping and I do not see the grand total until weeks later.
Avoid and deflect…a male characteristic that I have successfully mastered
Before Thanksgiving dawned I arranged an aide for my recuperating husband and off I scurried, guilt free, for a highly successful foray to Woodbury Common…let’s just say Gucci and I became close as the elegant Italian spoke my language with amazing bottom line holiday pricing.
Theory, Dior, Ralph Lauren and Paul Smith also were more than welcoming, spreading generosity throughout their establishments.
Riding an intense retail therapy high, I returned home weighted with bundles and headed over to Lincoln Center TKTS to purchase half price 11 row center orchestra tickets to Jagged Little Pill.
”You Oughta Know” that I liked it much more than I thought I would.
Of course, the music is inspiring and groundbreaking.
Matching a story to established music is no easy feat and therein lies the problem.
Morissette did not want the show to be autobiographical so it is a bit contrived and melodramatic.
The musical is supported by a strong cast and great sets.
Alanis Morissette whose 1995 alternative rock LP, Jagged Little Pill, sold over 33 million copies worldwide, is one of the best-selling albums of all time.
The lyrics touch upon themes of aggression and unsuccessful relationships, with a post grunge and pop rock influence.
Go for the music.
It is an all-round stronger musical than the Tina Turner Broadway musical, but Adrienne Warren’s performance as Tina is award winning.
And look who stopped by the neighborhood…Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Hope your weekend was absolutely maaaavelous.
