We all recognize that 2020 is a dumpster fire.
Literally, as of Monday, California is on fire, again. Yesterday, winds were whipping at 60 mph.
Handmaiden Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed Monday night and I just could not watch any of the reporting on TV…it was dinner time on the west coast and I lost my appetite falling prey to the Conservative Caloric Colonic.
Voter suppression was validated by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding Wisconsin’s voting laws on Monday, rejecting an effort to require the counting of absentee ballots that are sent back to election officials on or just before Election Day.
Covid-19 is on the rise, infecting Americans at warp speed and we are still languishing without a countrywide health mandate.
European consensus is the United States is pathetic.
Yesterday, a high ranking trump-loathing Republican who works for one of the most powerful Republicans in Washington was anonymously profiled in the October 26th issue of NY Magazine.
He was quoted as saying of people in the future looking back at trump’s reign of terror, “How the fuck did they think this was normal? It makes me sad for the country. He’s a permanent scar on the face of our country.”
Jared Kushner made racist remarks with his smug expression in a slim cut designer suit as if he just told us where he purchased his kabuki make up (perhaps he and Agent Orange should have a consultation with Bobbie Brown about combining orange and white foundation and producing a more realistic color palette). Instead, he commented on FOX that, Black Americans have to “want to be successful.”
The stock market has reacted adversely this week to all the depressing news.
I wish I could provide some solace…oh, the non-refundable JCrew Italian wool pants I took a flyer on because they were reduced to under $40 from $160.00, fit (actually they are a bit big) so the bargain provided 60 seconds of unsuppressed elation.
I don’t even have a sports distraction in 2020.
The fact that being depressed, unmotivated to do anything (exception, voting by Absentee ballot or early in-person voting), tense, uptight and stressed is the norm in the country is insane.
I cannot sleep fearing that trump will be re-elected despite the surge in early voting.
Fingers crossed that November 3rd turns America on its axis and we wake up on November 4th with a smile on our face, a Democratic playing field and the Orange elephant off our back?
NO MORE TWEETS!!
