I am killing myself. I think I took my New Year’s resolution a bit too seriously.
In point of fact, I could barely get out of bed this morning.
Yesterday, I took a 50 minute spin class, ran the dogs 4 miles and took a 1 hour Pilates class from the hardest, most demanding Pilates instructor. Marti Bradley is one tough task master, but her class is life changing, if it doesn’t kill you first.
I am athletic, but Pilates really kicks my butt. Maybe I am trying to negate the fact that I am middle aged. Embrace my age and body…that’s cray cray.
Part of my charm is never acting age appropriate. I have been going through menopause for a decade, so who the hell even knows how old I am. I have sweated away at least 10 good years.
While I work at being in shape and staying healthy, I also want to be stylin’ but not extravagant. Courtny, David and I decided that we needed new glasses and we headed to the Warby Parker pop up in the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood .
What a scene. People were crammed together, grabbing at the frames…so many germs being passed hand to face!
I have been a loyal fan of the optics line for 3 years.
Here’s the back story. Warby Parker was founded in 2010 by 4 guys who were at Wharton Business School together. By establishing the company, they took on big-name companies like LensCrafter and Pearle Vision in hopes of disrupting a stagnant eye wear industry.
Warby Parker has now surpassed 500,000 customers and raised a total of $112 million in funding. The company’s premise exudes a strong desire to make the world a better place as well as treating the customer with respect and good old-fashioned service. Talk about righteous, every time a pair of glasses is sold, Warby Parker provides a pair to someone in need.
If you are interested and there isn’t a store, pop up or traveling Warby Parker bus in your ‘hood, then go on line and participate in their free Home Try-On program. Select up to 5 pairs of frames which the company will mail to you. Try them on and then send them back within 5 days.
If you live in the Los Angeles area, definitely do a drive by at the Standard. What a scene…after you purchase your new frames and can see clearly, have a look around the hotel. It is dumpy chic.
Check out the pool. People were getting it on. I wanted to scream, “Get a Room!”, but they already had one. I guess they enjoy open air sexploits.
Here’s looking at you, kid!
