Big Dance…

Sports posts do not always entice views to my blog.

So what, who cares. I live for sports.

Sports audiences are very compelling.

If you actually observe fan reactions on television or up close and in person during a sporting event you will be amazed by the amount of emotions team addiction elicits.

Never will you be so closely witness to the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

My dedication to my teams can make or break my day, week, month, year.

March Madness is off the charts this year.

The Big Dance has invited many of the basketball wallflowers who, with a winning Glamour makeover, are actually lookin’ mighty fine.

BTW, The Big Dance origin is all about Marquette University’s head coach, Al McGuire. In 1977, the coach became known for always wearing a bright blue blazer to all the games during the regular season. He was asked by a reporter if he would wear his lucky jacket during the team’s participation in the NCAA tournament. He replied, “Absolutely. You gotta wear the blue blazer when you go to the big dance.”

This is the first time since seeding began in 1979 that none of the No. 1, 2 or 3 seeds made the final weekend.

So many games have been incredible nail bitters, an exciting display of true grit resulting in numerous amazing comebacks.

Out of the 20 million brackets submitted on ESPN, just 37 picked the men’s Final Four.

The Final Four will not feature a single former McDonald’s All-American, just dedicated, hard working team players.

Unlike the NBA, college basketball is all about teamwork and all out defense…wouldn’t it be great if politics featured teamwork and dedication towards a common goal. Put referees in Congress and have them whistle flagrant fouls, including unsportsmanlike conduct, elbowing, pushing, being out of bounds with partisan rhetoric, a penchant for rewriting the rule book and back court violations.

I love when the camera spotlights the coaches wives who just can’t watch the play on the court or the coaches young kids who are going absolutely crazy.

Fan apparel is more unique than Fashion Week.

I have been checking out Bill Murray assuming the role of supportive father. Bill Murray’s son, Luke, is an assistant coach for Final Four bound UCONN. The famous actor has been in the stands cheering on the Huskies all tournament.

Even if you are not a big sports fan March Madness beats the debut of the final season of Succession with all the family machinations and is a better ride than the new John Wick: Chapter Four movie.

My team was not invited and that makes me sad, but I have been rooting for Florida Atlantic University, a relatively new college located in Boca Raton, Florida.

My dad was actually a teaching assistant there. He was fascinated with politics and took a course that former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate, Michael Dukakis, taught.

My dad and Dudakis bonded and the rest is history. When my father died I purchased a bench on the FAU campus and dedicated it to him and his love of learning.

I am rooting for FAU and my father is by my side, enjoying a scotch on the rocks and some of Queen E’s savory appetizers.

March Madness is a slam dunk for a plethora of joyful reasons.
