Is happiness just an illusion?
I am over the moon that Joe Biden is president and we finally have a smart, decent, kind woman as VP.
I am all in regarding the Biden administration’s agenda.
Forget the insanity of acquiring a vaccine shot, I am thankful that I am halfway there.
Since January 20th, I no longer wake up every morning feeling flulike symptoms from being exposed to Agent Orange fumes.
I happily wear a mask at all times outside of the confides of my home and honor social distancing.
But, there is still a residual pervasive, negative aura surrounding this country.
Racism and anti-Semitism are rampant.
We have unobstructed crazies in Congress.
Politicians are more interested in personal wins than what is best for the country as a whole.
A Martin Luther King refresher course is needed on Capitol Hill…”Power, properly understood, is the ability to achieve purpose. It is the strength required to bring about social, political, or economic changes.”
Presently, our flag is colorless, symbolically absent is the parallel playing of red and blue…it is a whiter shade of supremacy…more of a declaration of surrender than democracy.
Biden is knee deep in it, valiantly trying to dig us out of Covid, a failing economy, improving racial and economic inequalities, simultaneously beginning the arduous task of reversing climate change and now battling ghosts from seasons past (GameStop, BlackBerry and AMC) adding fuel to the roaring fire.
All I want to do is set the pace of my daily hike to, Don’t Worry, Be Happy, but the words keep flaming out.
Instead, I find myself channeling Sam Cooke and grooving to the idealistic hope, A Change Is Gonna Come!?
