We Didn’t Start the Fire…

Early Saturday morning I walked from the bathroom to the living (in NYC it is a quick trip) to retrieve my cell and, unbelievably, I forgot what I wanted to order on Amazon.

30 minutes later, I’m in spin class and the instructor plays, We Didn’t Start the Fire, a wordy, catchy Billy Joel song released in 1989.

“Rosenbergs, H-bomb, Sugar Ray, Panmunjom
Brando, The King and I and The Catcher in the Rye poured out of my mouth.

I remembered every word and probably haven’t sung that song in decades.

How is that possible that in a 10 second span of time I could not for the life of me remember that I wanted to order clear mascara on Amazon, but I had total recall of all the lyrics from a song released years ago…come on!!

I have complete recollection of the starting line up of the 1986 Super Bowl champion NY Giants, but I cannot remember what I did last Tuesday.

Old age…early onset of dementia?!

To be fair, music does conjure up pleasant memories and incites happiness.

I guess I’ll just sing my way through the rest of my life and rely on my calendar and Google machine in order to recollect what is happening tomorrow.

Can you relate?!…
