The Percentage Game…

Rule No. 413.

“Eighty percent of the people who hear [your troubles] don’t care and the other twenty percent are glad you’re having them.”

I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I reluctantly  concur with Tommy Lasorda Rule #413.

Lasorda, a great leader and ambassador for baseball, also played the game professionally. He managed the Los Angeles Dodgers for 20 years, leading them to 4 National League pennants and 2 World Series titles.

He came in contact with a lot of people from all walks of life…he recognized human behavior.

Frankly, I find it quite enjoyable to share good news, your spouses or offspring success, career achievements, a designer bag you saved up for and are excited to show, an impending vacation, .

Devil devotees aside, not many share your joy and if you share you are deemed braggy.

I verbally edit myself and my communications all the time.

I have found just like the Housewives bitches, people rehash your successes, question the validity and end up doubting your word.

I miss Queen E. who reveled in all my news.

Sharing is meant for meals nowadays and not for good news or achievements.

I think many enjoy when bad things beset you.

For a gregarious person, I tone my words down and minimize successes.

Trust no one, keep your head down and your good, bad or indifferent news close to the vest.

Most people are on their own self journey. Some want you to do well just not better than they do.

I kid you not, I love success stories, exciting buys, vacation locations and offspring successes…keep these joyous tidbits coming.

And a reminder:

I can buy myself flowers Write my name in the sand Talk to myself for hours Say things you don’t understand I can take myself dancing,I can hold my own handI can love me better than you can.

Enjoy your weekend.
