Premature Mother’s Day…

I’m a mother…

No, not that kind…a real mother and yesterday was my Mother’s Day. It was spectacular….thanks to my darling daughter and fabulous husband.

I will not be with my daughter next Sunday so we designated May 4th as our official Mother’s Day celebration. My family planned a mother of a day, commencing with breakfast in bed and a gifting ceremony.

I was then whisked away to an 11 am blowout at Dry Bar in Santa Monica. I had a terrific head massage and a great blow job. Now I had to be taken for brunch as one never wastes a perfect hair day.

We then picked up the man in my life and turned the car around, destination the rarified air of Bel Air. The Hotel Bel Air re-opened after an extensive renovation and it is gorgeous. You definitely feel as if you are on vacation, in a serene, relaxing, idyllic hideaway.

The Hotel Bel Air is an exclusive rose tinted hideaway, nestled in the tony enclave of Bel Air. We partook in the most amazing brunch on the newly constructed outdoor patio. We had a perfect table with a full view of the patio and surrounding hills. A musical duo serenaded us unobtrusively in the background with gypsy jazz music.

We were immediately greeted with a glass of bubbly and a pastry and bread basket that was a carb addicts crack. I intend to review the Hotel Bel Air restaurant on Tuesday so I will leave you with the delectable image of the sun streaming in on our banquette, live music playing softly, champagne and freshly made baked goods adorning the white linen tablecloth, accompanied by homemade butter, blueberry, strawberry and raspberry preserves.

The menu, designed by super chef Wolfgang Puck, features modern California cuisine with European and Mediterranean influences in a spectacular garden setting…yum.

We drove home with stomachs full and spirits high and then the dynamic duo pulled one last spectacular surprise out of their adorable collective asses…a 90 minute intense, restorative, sports massage from the iron man, Kenji, at Equinox Spa, Santa Monica.

Kenji is Master of Massage and effortlessly coaxes and manipulates all tension, tightness and pain out of your body. Why do massages fly by? Workouts can be laborious, plane trips interminable, but massages fly by in a New York minute. I floated home in a relaxed state of mind.

I am so glad that I am a mother for a plethora of reasons. My Mother’s Day was brilliant and I felt honored and rejoiced. This premature Mother’s Day may become a tradition…it is fabulous not dealing with the insanity of the official day of paying homage to the greatest institution…motherhood.

Oh well, all good things must end…I need to go wash the dinner dishes.
