Musical Time Capsule…

Saturday Night Live has been a memorable part of my life.

I still adore the show even when it is not at its funniest.

Commencing in 1976 no matter what was happening I was in front of the TV by 11:30pm every Saturday night that the show aired.

Before embarking on a magical music industry career, through SNL I was exposed to the newest, best, groundbreaking and most popular recording artists at that moment in time.

SNL is an enduring musical time capsule. You can look at the show and know what was or is going on in America.

I think my favorite event, way more than the Grammy and Oscar shows or even touring with the bands, was having an artist on SNL and spending 3 days immersed in the production.

I admired the staff and the abundance of creativity.

Being in the audience during the live broadcast was the best.

Blondie, Huey Lewis and the News, Billy Idol, Pat Benatar, Sinead O’Connor, Toni Basil were all musical guests.

I attended with Huey Lewis before the band’s appearance to see his friend and former bandmate, Elvis Costello, on SNL. That was the show Elvis broke the rules and in the midst of performing he changed up the playlist.

Watching all the Best of SNL this past rainy, bitter cold weekend brought back fond memories from Studio 8H.

Watch the multitude of SNL 50 year celebration specials on Peacock, guaranteed to provide brilliantly enjoyable flashes from your past.
