It was a perfect weekend in every way in New York City.
Granted there are moments when my passion for Manhattan is tested by the daunting heat and humidity, high cost of living, crowded sidewalks, air redolent with the smell of marijuana, but it is very challenging not to love fall in New York.
The leaves are changing and glorious colors abound, the air is sweet and fresh.
Saturday was gorgeous and we took a long walk in Central Park which was packed with Marathon runners doing their due diligence one week before the NYC Marathon is scheduled.
We enjoyed breakfast outside on Madison Avenue and then strolled down the Avenue window shopping.
It was a great morning until Tiffany Trump and her homely husband passed by with security. Seriously, who would want to interface with them?!
We changed and headed to the theater district to see Tammy Faye a new musical that opened last week with music by Elton John, lyrics by Jake Shears, starring a dynamic Katie Brayben and Broadway stalwarts, Christian Borle and Michael Cerveris.
the time is the 1970s, and for the very first time, satellites are bringing cable television into American homes.
As families gather in their living rooms, young preacher Jim Bakker and his wife Tammy Faye hit the airwaves to build a nationwide congregation and put the fun back in faith, pissing off the likes of Jerry Falwell, Billy Graham, Jimmy Swaggart and Pat Robertson.
Seats were fabulous, show was mildly captivating, cast was very talented. Sadly, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend the musical.
We walked to Columbus Circle and dined at Twin Tails a new restaurant which opened three days ago. (Review this week).
Headed home, walked and fed the dog and had a lovely post dinner manicure and pedicure at our favorite salon.
Rushed home in flip flops with my ruby red toes still drying to catch the emotionally eroding Yankees World Series game 2 debacle.
Sunday was a bonus day without the aggravating NY Giants playing…peace until Monday night when both the Yankees and NY Giants play at the same time. I will need a gummie to get through Monday Night madness.
Sunday morning we lined up with dozens of other New Yorkers to vote early. It was a magical crowd all stupefied by the closeness of the race.
I actually felt teary eyed when I cast my vote.
We had our doggie with us and the proctor asked if Finnley is an emotional support dog. I resoundingly replied, “Yes!”
During this harrowing election season I have a deep seated need for an emotional support animal.
We traversed the upper regions of Central Park and then met my daughter at Barney Greengrass for a delish brunch.
Hit up the Green Market by the Museum of Natural History and then headed home for objective football watching.
New York City has it all.
