Le Gratin, S’il Vous Plait…NYC Restaurant Review

France is not a possibility this fall?

Do not fret.

Head downtown and delight in an authentic French meal at Le Gratin, Chef Daniel Boulud’s latest addition to his impressive collection of NYC restaurants including Daniel, Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud.

Chef Boulud’s Bouchon Lyonnaise is a casual restaurant inspired by the notable bistros of his hometown of Lyon, France.

The restaurant which is in the tastefully remodeled Beekman, a Thompson Hotel, emanates a Provençal, serene  vibe.

We started with an absolute must…classic Burgundy Escargot Gratines Au Persil accompanied by toast points to sop up the scrumptious garlic, parsley, butter sauce (1/2 dozen $21).

The Steak Frites A L’Echalote Avra Salade de Cressin is a 9 oz. Grilled Prime Black Angus Hanger Steak served with Red Wine Shallot Jus or Peppercorn Sauce, a Watercress Salad and French Fries ($42). The steak was fabulous and had a great char along with perfect French fries and a petit watercress salad. I love that they brought ketchup and Mayo sauce for the fries.

My daughter ordered the Moules in a Saffron Cream Broth along with French Fries. The portion was plentiful, the broth buttery and perfect for dipping the plump, delectable mussels ($28).

My husband selected the Omelette Lyonnaise Au Fromage et Champignons with caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms and scallions which was rich and flavorful ($21).

The Bread was crispy and warm with creamy, delightful butter.

Located in the Financial District, Le Gratin is just steps away from City Hall, the Oculus at the World Trade Center, Tribeca and the revitalized Seaport District. Strolling the Tin Building at the Seaport is a must.

Le Gratin is inspired by Chef Boulud’s memory of his mother’s homemade gratin dishes.

We went for brunch/lunch and made a lovely day of it.

Le Gratin The Beekman New York City, New York. Open Tuesday-Sunday 4-10:30pm. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm. Reservations on Resy.
