Heaven Sent…the Trek to Mont Saint-Michel

Mont Saint-Michel.

The wait is over.
We rose early on day three, made the 5 minute ride from the rental house and we were on the tram to scale Mont Saint-Michel by 9:15am.

There were literally 10 people on the bus upon arrival and on the subsequent hike to the top of the Abbey we had the marvel all to ourselves.

Mont Saint-Michel is the 3rd most visited sight in France (Eiffel Tower and Louvre are #1 and #2).

The beached mass of granite rises 400 feet above sea level and is crowned by the monastery built in the 13th century.

The climb to the Abbey is daunting as it is perched on a  264 foot rock a few hundred yards off the coast.

The sun was shining, just a perfect day to see one of the wonders of the world

Mont Saint-Michel is a UNESCO World Heritage official site and visited by more than 3 million people each year.

It is a visual experience not to be missed.

We sang Miley Cyrus’  hit, The Climb,  all the way to the top which is a feat when you are climbing 100s of steps  on the vertical ascent on the stairway to Heaven.

Enjoy the sights.

Brittany beckons tomorrow…
