A conundrum.
I am trying to comprehend the appeal of Dr. Ben Carson.
I can understand that Americans are sick and tired of career politicians.
The biggest problem is that they all vote along party lines rather than considering what is best for the country.
But come on.
I am hoping that the next President of the United States is intelligent, actually has a deep command of policy and can hold their own with the likes of Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel and Xi Jinping.
17 years ago, the Republican presidential candidate, Ben Carson, stated that Egypt’s ancient pyramids were not built as pharaonic tombs, but were built for storing grain.
This statement recently resurfaced. Does Carson deserve a response?
According to Egyptian Antiquities Minister, Mamdouh el-Damaty, he does not.
In fact, recent thermal scans of the pyramids may reveal hidden tombs.
That information did not deter Carson.
Last week he stood by his belief that Egypt’s great pyramids were built by the biblical figure, Joseph to store grain, an assertion dismissed by experts who say it is accepted science that they were tombs for pharaohs.
“Some people believe in the Bible like I do and don’t find that to be silly at all and believe that God created the earth and don’t find that silly at all,” Carson said. “The secular progressives try to ridicule it every time it comes up and they’re welcome to do that.”
What I find silly is that people are actually convinced this man is qualified to be President.
I start every NFL season firmly believing that the NY Giants will win the Super Bowl.
If I ever thought that I was a dreamer with unrealistic expectations all I have to do is tune into the Republican debates and realize that my Giant Super Bowl fantasy is way more realistic than Carson or Trump being viable candidates for Commander-in-Chief.
