95 and going strong.
My mother never ceases to amaze me.
We made plans to rendezvous in the city on Saturday so that my mom could join in on Courtny’s birthday celebrations.
Courtny’s birthday has a life of its’ own. She has been commemorating for 10 days and I do not see an immediate end in sight.
We arranged for my mother’s aide to drive her into NYC.
In actuality, she is still a very good driver. We do spot checks on her to make sure she is road worthy, but I have requested that she cease and desist and allow her aides to do the heavy lifting.
Viola was picking her up and we were meeting at the innovative RedFarm restaurant on Broadway and 76th.
We were primed. I was outside RedFarm with David by my side, on red alert to leap into the car and find parking.
Well, the parking God was looking down and shining on Eunice through the rain as there was a spot directly in front of the restaurant…talk about parking karma.
I opened the car door and who was driving Miss Daisy, but Miss Daisy. My mother’s aide had never driven into New York City so Eunie babes decides to pilot the Lexus as she has made the journey a million times.
I am so glad we had arranged for my mother to chauffeur Viola…what a hoot. Eunice has still got it.
My mother was steps away from Katz’s Pastrami Egg Rolls, Crispy Beef, Diced Tuna with Crispy Noodles, Pac-Man Dumplings and Shrimp-Stuffed Crispy Chicken…praise the Food Fairy.
We had a fantastic celebration, ate well and then I assumed the roll of Driving Miss Daisy and we headed off to Connecticut to deliver our Queen to her suburban throne.
