I am a theater ‘ho😎
I bought a ticket for a Wednesday matinee a month ago and forgot about it.
I looked at my calendar on Tuesday and realized the show was this week.
Wednesday morning I had a doctor’s appointment. I walked home and quickly changed from athletic wear to more suitable theater attire.
I was not psyched for the show, but I jumped on the subway and walked the 6 blocks down and over to West 44th Street.
You have to love and respect life’s little surprises.
Maybe Happy Ending is a joyful, charming, lovely surprise.
The audience peeks inside a one-room apartment on the outskirts of Seoul where Oliver, a long retired Helperbot 3, lives a happily quiet life, listening to jazz records and caring for his favorite plant.
One day his fellow Helperbot 5 neighbor, Claire, asks to borrow his charger.
Maybe Happy Ending, an original new musical, is the offbeat and captivating story of two outcasts near the end of their warranty who discover that even robots can be swept off their feet.
Darren Criss of Glee fame is remarkable in his robotic physicality. Along with relative newcomer, Helen J Shenthey shine as an unlikely couple not programmed for love.
The sets are fabulous and music embraceable.
At this particular chaotic, tension filled time in history take the time to see a clever piece of theater framed by joy, originality and compassion.
Maybe Happy Ending Belasco Theatre 111 West 44th Street New York City. 100 minutes with no intermission.
