Exploring Vancouver.
A truly lovely expedition.
We walked for hours and then hunger set in.
It was lunch time and my able assistant foodie googled new and trending restaurants in Vancouver.
Our foodare went cra cra when we focused in on Royal Dinette.
Holy lunch special, we struck gold.
The farm-to-table restaurant is located in Vancouver’s financial district, featuring locally sourced food in a welcoming setting with retro touches.
We selected the two course lunch menu for $30 (Canadian)…converted to U.S. dollars, $22.78.
Courtny kicked her meal off with Walla Walla Onion Veloute with House Ham, Alpine Gold Cheese and Potato Rye Focaccia. It was fabulous…rich and delicious ($8.35).
I selected the Winter Squash with delectable Roasted Grapes, Oats Dill and Smoked Chèvre. The dish was also wonderful and healthy…no guilt ingested.
We both indulged in the amazing Baked Ling Cod with Potato Gnocchi, House Bacon and Shellfish Chowder…outstanding ($19.74).
David flew solo and ordered the Squid Ink Bucatini with Humboldt Squid, Sea Urchin Butter, Calabrian Chili and Lemon ($15.95).
I sometimes defer because I find squid ink pasta too strong in flavor. This one was first rate with a stellar combination of flavors.
No room for dessert. We were satiated.
We spent time chatting with the charming manager, Chen Wei-Lee, who provided a speed course in Vancouver’s best restaurants.
Executive Chef Jack Chen has worked at some of the world’s best restaurants including, London’s The Ledbury and Per Se in New York City.
Royal Dinette belongs at the top of anyone’s Vancouver restaurant bucket list.
