According to a well-known expression, Rome’s emperor at the time, the decadent and unpopular Nero, “fiddled while Rome burned.”

The expression has a double meaning.

Not only did Nero play music while his people suffered, but he was an ineffectual and out of touch leader during a time of crisis.

Resonates today…don’t you think!!

Case in point, America’s emperor golfs while San Juan implodes and North Korea plots the world’s demise.

WOW, do we have the meanest, nastiest, most thin skinned president in the history of America, rivaling Nero, Hitler, Idi Ami, Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, Pinochet, to name just a few.

When the mean tweets surfaced Saturday morning lambasting the mayor of San Juan, I though if I raised a child with the personality defects that Agent Orange displays, my offspring would be in intense therapy or behind bars..

The genius that Dumpty Trumpty is, he accused the mayor as well as the citizens of Puerto Rico of doing a 180, praising the president regarding his rescue operations and then turning and buying into the media’s negative fake news the next day.

Hey, you ignorant, cruel, incompetent tyrant, the entire power grid has been down since Hurricane Maria blew through Puerto Rico, therefore there is no TV, radio, cellphone or social media on the island surrounded by big water.

Then on Sunday, The Orange One lumbered up to his bully pulpit and tweeted that Secretary of State Tillerson was wasting his time going through diplomatic channels with North Korea.

If President Kennedy had made these pronouncements during the Cuban Missile Crisis, we would all be dead.

Every day, I have to rally against the insanity that has washed up on the door step of the White House.

I’m just glad I have such an amazingly sane, kind, supportive family to rely on and keep me vertical and moving forward.

I am writing this post on what had been (past tense) a perfect Sunday.

I am sitting in eclectic Washington Square Park watching humanity stream by, drowning my sorrows over the NY Giants 4th consecutive loss.

I sit and fiddle while the Giants burn.

The  2018 Super Bowl is as unattainable as a successful, humane Trump presidency.
