The Time Is Now…

33,000 people die every year from guns in America.

The United States government does nothing.

Many politicians place a gag order on all gun control conversations.

As with parents who dismiss their children with the simplistic refrain, “Because I said so!” we are overdue to rise up and challenge our representatives who say after every horrific massacre, “It’s not the time to talk about gun control legislation.”

How is it possible that 95% of Americans support background checks for all gun buyers and yet there is no active legislation in Congress which has any chance of passing.

Too many politicians have made a deal with the devil (NRA) and are willing to sacrifice our children in order to secure their re-election.

Since 2011, more than 100 gun control proposals presented in Congress have failed.

Congress cannot even pass a bill banning suspected terrorists who are on the No Fly list from being able to purchase a gun…say what?!

Why is it more difficult for a teenager to get a driver’s license than an assault weapon?

There have been 18 school shootings in 2018 and we are only 6 weeks into the new year,

Since Sandy Hook more than 400 people have been shot in over 200 school shootings.

My mother just called in tears.

Her aide’s best friend’s 2 daughters were both murdered at the Florida high school yesterday.

The mother was unable to locate them all day and last night she found them after they had passed away in the hospital.

When told, her husband had a heart attack and is now in ICU.

How do you go on after that?

Frankly, I blame our elected leaders.

Trump finally addressed the country yesterday. His advisors recommended that he speak to the nation after the shootings on Wednesday.

He refused.

Thursday, he mumbled empty pledges, meaningless platitudes and he did not even mention the word, gun.

Florida senator Marco Rubio has come out against a conversation on gun control in the immediate aftermath of the Florida school shooting.

Here’s the reason…the NRA invested $1 million in campaign ads for Rubio in 2016, $2 million more in previous campaigns.

That amount pales in comparison with the over $21 million the organization invested in electing Trump president.

These fiscal whores who lay on their backs for the pimping NRA must be held responsible, perhaps even criminally liable when these shootings happen.

America is traumatized by fear.

Thoughts and prayers are nice, but we need action.

We are outraged for a day or two and then move on.

Let’s channel the rage, ban together and finally put a stop to the  madness.

Call your representatives…speak up.

NOW is the time for action!

Note: This is what intelligent, compassionate, peaceful Americans are up against…note the ad is sponsored by the NRA.

  1. What can one say. The only thing is to do. Can we hold the NRA responsible in any legal form? This has to be a next step.

  2. Firstly, I am devastated for your mother’s aide. That is simply too much for anyone to bear. Secondly, it is impossible for me to fathom how powerful the NRA is and the fact that so many politicians choose their money over their constituents’ wishes – to have tighter gun controls. As an Australian, I am relieved that this is one thing we don’t have to fix. I saw a post on Facebook today that asked the question: When are they going to love their kids more than their guns?
