The Price of Beauty…

In a perfect world beauty comes from within.

This is not a perfect, nonjudgmental world.

That’s why we need to supplement.

We all know that since the Pandemic ended the cost of food, rent, cars, utilities have increased drastically.

Beauty, physical renewal and upkeep have soared.

A spa pedicure is now $70 plus.

I know you can get a regular pedicure for $25-30, but it is so perfunctory.

On Sunday, four women walked into the nail salon and had pedicures. The turnaround was 20 minutes. Not enough time to even soak properly so I splurge and buy into the more satisfying and curative process.

I did request the regular manicure. I buff which costs an additional $5. I cook a lot and then chip immediately so to polish is an exercise in futility.

I have never figured out why buffing is not an exact swap for polishing as painting takes longer and consumes more product. Buffing is quick and only employs an inexpensive buffing board.

Facials are absurdly priced for those that actually improve the visage.

Women’s cosmetics and creams, Vitamin C serum, eye cream, masks, retinol are very pricey so being cleansed and beautified costs.

In this day and age can women age gracefully without supplementing the process?

And, don’t get me started on hair coloring, cuts and conditioning. Glossing is another add on that women buy into.

Even eyebrow empowerment is costly.

Forget the cost of Botox and dermal fillers.

Beauty may be skin deep, but nowadays you need to dig deep to maintain it.

If you look good, you feel good even if there is considerable inner beauty radiating out.

Confucius said, “Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it.”

Apparently, that is why it takes a high end village to showcase your best look and to make one glow confidently.
