I do not know if it’s the locale, the forever enticing crash of the waves, sparkling Pacific Ocean or white sandy beach.
Takeout at Sunset Restaurant never disappoints.
Most weekends we drive to Westward Beach, hike and read at this slice of paradise.
Around 1pm David ambles over to order takeout.
The outdoor patio is often very busy. Last Saturday there was a 90 wait.
I usually go for the Chopped Zuma Salad with grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, beets, cheese and the usual Cobb salad ingredients ($21.75).
I shook things up and ordered the Cheese Plate which included 4 gourmet cheeses, homemade blueberry jam, honey, sliced apples, dried figs and apricots, peanut brittle accompanied by walnut raisin toast ($19).
David ordered a luscious Lobster Roll with large chunks of fresh lobster meat and only a dash of mayo on a warm brioche roll. For $2 extra you can add crispy fries. The Lobster Roll served with homemade cole slaw runs $24.75.
We have dined indoors pre-Covid and the food and room with a view is enticing.
The day is a guaranteed staycation with free parking right by the beach if you arrive early.
