The food in Mexico City was outrageous.
It was truly fine dining and the strength of the U.S. dollar made the gourmet meals ridiculously affordable.
I could recommend ten different restaurants, but I am singling out Sud 777 as the food, ambiance and service were all top notch.
The restaurant is located outside the city limits, reflecting a stylish, elegant lodge while creating a soothing, sophisticated get away atmosphere.
Chef and co-owner Edgar Nunez, who previously worked at El Bulli and Noma, arrived at Sud 777 in 2008 while in his 20’s and took up residence as executive chef.
We were warmly welcomed and settled into a geographically desirable table in the middle of the attractive restaurant.
Our server was absolutely charming.
We kicked things off with a bottle of rose.
The servers brought over a wooden box filled with a variety of breads which were all incredible and the olive oil was perfection.
The grilled octopus was probably the best I have every eaten…the colors on the plate were tantalizing and the preparation perfection.
The salad was so fresh, crisp and tasty, laden with fresh local produce.
The fresh crabmeat with caviar was outrageous.
The salmon was heaven.
We opted for a la carte even thought the tasting menu was an amazing deal.
We tripped the light fantastic and ordered Sweetbreads which were crispy and delicious.
The homemade Burrata in a green sauce was off the charts fabuloso.
The fishes were incredible.
The chocolate dessert was a work of art.
Every day in Mexico City was terrific, the sites enchanting, the museums top notch and the food scrumptious.
Sud 777 was a real highlight.
