Stoned Birthday…

Birthday Boy chooses Joe.

Yesterday we girded our loins for the white knuckle 100 mile round trip drive to Miami Beach on I-95.

We headed to Joe’s Stone Crab to celebrate my husband’s birthday.

We made good time because we now have the Florida version of Easy Pass and we glided past multiple tie ups.

We were early for our reservation so we strolled over to the gorgeous South Pointe Park a block from Joe’s.

We requested an outside table on the lovely patio.

For the first hour we were all alone, an anomaly at Joe’s. They are on the summer schedule and menu since Monday.

We started with fantastic Wild Oysters from Mystic, Connecticut the second restaurant to serve oysters from the Nutmeg State…who knew (6 for $21.95).

The bread basket is always a treat. Besides the pretzel, onion and egg bread they added honey biscuits and mini corn muffins.

We had to have the always fantabulous Creamed Spinach ($7.95).

Instead of the Hash Browns we went with the Fresh Grilled Asparagus which we’re delicious ($12).

The large Stone Crabs we’re sweet and meaty and the mustard adjacent dipping sauce was fantastic (Large $79.95).

Of course, the birthday boy had to have his Key Lime Pie which is the best around and it came with a candle and a song ($10.50).

Joe’s Stone Crab never disappoints.

If you visit south Florida Joe’s Stone Crab is a must.
