Still Trolling For Lobster…

Another beautiful weekend. Another reason to take to the highways and byways.

Headed to Bellport on Long Island, a small charming Hampton’s style hamlet less than a two hour drive from New York City.

We did our due diligence exploring the area, driving by beautiful homes abutting the water, landing at Porters on the Lane in search of tasty seafood.

We settled into sidewalk dining below the classic front porch and chowed down on delectable steamers and lobster rolls.

We started with a Wedge Salad.

I need to give up the search for the now obsolete classic Wedge and just make it at home.

Cold, crunchy Iceberg lettuce is a must prepared with large crispy pieces of bacon, including juicy red ripe tomatoes and sweet onions. The classic Palm or authentic steakhouse EVOO and Balsamic salad dressing with blue cheese, Stilton or Gorgonzola  is a dying art. This Wedge was a bust ($14).

Onward to the Steamed Clams that were sweet and nestled in a delicious broth containing Cannelloni beans, shallots, butter and white white ($16).

We split a plentiful Lobster Roll on a well toasted bun with lots of sweet and delicious lobster and the fries were very good, as well. It was served with a tartar sauce which we requested on the side and asked for the perfect melted butter ($38).

My husband enjoyed the Salad Nicoise with seared fresh tuna, greens, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, string beans and potatoes ($29).

It is a very pleasant place for lunch with extensive wine, beer and cocktail offerings.

The same owner has a tiny, adorable ice cream parlor with all the fixings across the street.

He graciously treated our doggie, Finnley, to a Doggie Dixie Cup filled with non dairy ice cream made by Purina. Finnley was elated…such a clever treat!

We strolled around town, window shopped and browsed the classic shops along the quaint main street.

The traffic back to the city during the late afternoon was a breeze.

Another great staycation interlude.
