Still Dating…

Last week my husband asked me out on a lunch date.

Friday afternoon we got dolled up and walked across Central Park to Avra, the sophisticated Greek restaurant on the upper east side.

I was giddy.

We were seated and immediately ordered champagne, toasting special time together.

Avra has the absolute best lunchtime deal in all of Manhattan.

Food has always been an integral part of our relationship.

It is our foreplay and a substitute for sports talk since David has no sports game.

For $29.99, Avra offers three full courses along with an an appetizer platter of crispy bread, radish, hummus and of course, Greek olives.

We turned our phones off and reminisced about our honeymoon which kicked off in Turkey followed by Egypt and ended with traversing the Greek Islands and Athens.

Greek Salad

We shared each course, beginning with a delicious and super fresh Greek salad, a tantalizing reminder of what we ate on our honeymoon.

Grilled Calamari

This was followed by a fabulous Grilled Calamari, another mainstay during our honeymoon trip.

Grilled Branzino

The main was a delectable Grilled Branzino.

For dessert we shared baklava and a chocolate yogurt cheese cake and toasted ech other with Greek coffee.

The delightful waiter said we looked like we were in love. He assumed it was our anniversary so he put a candle in it.

Since my demographics run the gamut from teens to seniors, the only photos of our everlasting love are imaged through food porn.

Greek Coffee

Afterwards, we strolled through Bergdorf Goodman, visiting the handbag, shoe and home sections…my version of Candyland.

I may have given David a not to subtle hint as to what I want for my birthday.

Holding hands, we headed home across the Park embraced by the lovely afternoon spent together, ignoring the rainfall which could not possibly dampen our spirits.
