The State of the Dress…

Tuesday night, the President of the United States of America captured the attention of the country, expounding upon the state of the union and our future.

What’s trending the next day? Not the economy, environment, women’s rights…no, the topic of conversation was First Lady Michelle Obama’s dress.

The country is still talking about Michelle Obama’s forest green ensemble, designed by Azzedine Alaïa. The dress had a fitted bodice and full skirt, made from the designer’s signature textured material with bands of a deeper green fabric encircling the skirt.

Her jacket was made to match and she added a wide leather belt to the outfit. Accessories were kept to a minimum and the FLOTUS bangs are gone and a center-part was trending. Simplicity was the name of the game.

Talking fashion, did anyone notice Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg? She is known to liven up her black robes with bold jewelry. She wore a wide, beaded neck piece. I thought she was stylin’. I want a chic woman with good taste and brains sitting on my Supreme Court…you go, Ruthie.

As for President Obama, who, by the way wore a dark suit with a solid blue tie, his State of the Union called for “A Year of Action”. Funny, that is exactly what I promised David in my New Year’s resolution…glad to see Barack and I are on the same page.

I wish that Congress and the President would get on the same page. Maybe we would all get some satisfaction.
