i love ny

I love New York. I cannot think of any place in the world that I would rather spend extended periods of time. Walking around this great city is so invigorating and stimulating…it is a daily dose of B 12. I am continually energized by Manhattan.

If you are bored in NY, consider yourself beyond your expiration date…lie down and succumb…you are legally brain dead. Every single day, you can view amazing art, see a first rate Broadway show, listen to accomplished musicians whether it’s rock ‘n roll, jazz or opera. All these cultural options are affordable through such outlets as TKTS at Times Square, give what you want admission fee at many museums, sponsored Friday nights at MOMA,  no charge outdoor concerts, to name just a few.

You can walk through compelling countryside by strolling Central Park, biking the Hudson River bike path, cruise through Fort Tryon near the Cloisters. You can indulge in the greatest retail therapy in the world whether your budget is $20 or $2000. Window shopping is open to all and stimulating. New film releases debut in Manhattan. Every weekend you can find a parade, flea or farmer’s market to peruse at no charge. You can sample food from every part of the world and participate in the finest quality dining or just grab a Papaya dog (2 dogs and a papaya smoothie for $5…such a deal).

You converse with amazing peeps from every walk of life and realize that social status and money do not necessarily make you a more compelling human being.

Transportation is accessible…you can walk, take a subway, bus, taxi and get anywhere you want in this exciting city…just purchase a Metro card and despite a recent price increase, it is still very affordable.

You can change the world in your own way by volunteering, buying a bench in Central Park, sponsoring a piece of a highway to clean up and protect the environment or contribute to Friends of the High Line. The High Line is a public park built on an historic freight rail line above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is city owned and maintained and operated by Friends of the High Line. It was founded in 1999 by community residents when it was under threat of demolition. It is a fab place to stroll, relax on the environmentally inspired benches, grab a bite and it’s free.

The only negative I can come up with is weather…when it’s good, it is very, very good and when it’s bad, it is awful. If hair is a major concern, wear a hat (I am crazy for men’s fedoras) or have a Keratin treatment and do not waste precious time trying to control this hair raising situation. If you are menopausal, just carry a cryin’ towel and mop up after yourself.

Yesterday, I strolled past numerous personalities and, despite what Alec Baldwin claims about famous people being vulnerable on the streets of NY, not one person approached any of these heavy hitters.

Beaches are in close proximity and even Central Park has the Green Beach, also know as Sheep’s Meadow…just bring your own water. You can sail, jet ski, kayak in the city…the options are innumerable and makes one unstoppable.

NY sports teams represent the best in the world. Bleacher seats at Yankee Stadium are still reasonable and it is a fantastic outing.

You can obtain body treatments for any part of your body…there is even a Museum of Sex (MoSex).

There are plenty of tough days in NY, but there is always a highlight, a magic moment to pick you up.

If you have never been to New York, save up, plan a trip…just get your butt here and experience real life. You don’t need artificial stimulants, just hit the pavement, interact and breath in that insatiable NY air and attitude…you will not be disappointed. Be promiscuous. Allow yourself to have an affair with this incredible city…Embrace NY…
