Shallow…

A winter day.

I was unmotivated and awaiting an afternoon and evening of playoff football.

What happened to the romantic comedy genre?

Why is everything that is streaming violent and depressing?

Are paying customers not entitled to nonviolent, upbeat, mindless, enjoyable escapism.

In recent months, the only viable candidate has been, Ticket to Paradise.

I was caught between a rock and a hard place. I reluctantly watched, Shotgun Wedding, winner in my mind of the worst piece of crap I have seen in quite a while brought to viewers by the overexposed Jennifer Lopez.

Sci Fi is popular, violence is bigger and I am desperate for lightweight escapism.

I finally resorted to multiple reruns of Sex and the City.

Sadly, I my very own sunny she shed is being infiltrated by stark reality.

Hang on…a bit of brightness.

The just released streaming TV series, Shrinking, provides interesting possibilities. Check it out on Apple+, starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, created by Segel, Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, the Roy Kent character in Ted Lasso.

Quelle surprise…late last night I found, You People, a quirky romantic comedy featuring an all-star cast including, Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Call me superficial, but I am only in the mood to wade into the shallow end.

Totally agree about the paucity if too-notch, light-hearted,well-scripted romantic comedies… pure, escapist fun!
And we all need to ‘escape’ at times. More often than not!
