Seeing Red…South Florida Restaurant Review

The Golden Girls descended upon Happy Hour.

The Golden label is reflective of our jewelry, definitely not our age.?

A new, very attractive Chinese restaurant has opened in chichi Boca Raton.

We decided to check it out.

Some of the motivation came from the fact that it was Queen E.’s actual birthday and she was always all about Chinese food.

Red Pine is a lovely spot tucked away in the corner of a posh office building in Boca Raton.

This week, Red Pine inaugurated their Happy Hour.

Since our reservation was at 6pm I decided to head over early and introduce myself to a Chinese Happy Hour which is held from 3-6pm Tuesday through Sunday at the bar.

We never made it to the table.

Sarah, the engaging and efficient bartender, lead us through the new menu and she was spot on.

Sarah also makes a mean Aperol Spritz and a delicious Sangria ( Cocktails $9).

We ordered most of the menu and the food was delicious, portions generous and pricing amazing.

We kicked things off with their renown jumbo Egg Roll which was the best I have ever eaten. The outside was light and crispy and the inside was flavorful and not the usual wet, tasteless cabbage stuffing ($6). The regular priced egg roll is $19 and the choices are a vegetable or five spice pork filling accompanied by mustard and a chili apricot duck sauce.

The General Tso chicken bites were fabulous with a light glaze and sauteed broccoli. The tender white meat chicken was very good ($12).

The crisp, flavorful Honey Soy Brussels Sprouts were served piping hot ($6).

The Chinese Sticky BBQ Ribs were tender and tantalizing. The sticky sauce was finger lickin’ good. They were served with a spicy Sichuan slaw ($9).

The Pork Long Dumplings were crunchy on the outside and the pork filling was tasty and well seasoned ( 2 for $4).

The only miss was the uninspired Chicken Fried Rice which was over salted and lacked inspiration ($7). Sarah noticed that the dish went uneaten and she removed it from the bill without us mentioning anything!

There are several appealing seating areas, including an attractive outdoor patio.

We were stuffed. The food was delectable and such a deal!

The Dinner Menu is quite extensive. All Happy Hour foods are also on the menu served in larger portions.

Red Pine is affiliated with Kings County Imperial, a highly touted Chinese restaurant located in Williamsburg and on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Red Pine One Town Center Road Boca Raton, Florida. Open for Dinner Tuesday-Thursday 5-9pm, Friday and Saturday 4-10pm, Sunday 4-9pm. Ample Parking. Happy Hour Tuesday-Sunday 3-6pm at the Bar. Reservations on OpenTable.com.
