A perfect Saturday in New York City.
Blue skies prevailed. The weather was cool and crisp.
We took a long walk uptown to the iconic Barney Greengrass for breakfast.
Shockingly, there was no line.
Beyond the food, Barney Greengrass holds a nostalgic place in my heart because the wallpaper in the restaurant is the exact same wallpaper that adorned the walls of my grandmother’s breakfast nook.
Barney’s wallpaper has decorated the walls since inception. The pattern was selected because it was the cheapest one available.
Longevity trumps style.
We devoured smoked sable on fresh sesame bagels. The secret is to order the appetizer plate which is enough for two and much less than the full platter.
Barney’s fresh orange juice is the best.
Next stop was a spa pedicure and manicure which we shared side by side.
With toes wrapped in Saran Wrap to protect the polish we picked up Finnley and walked Central Park stopping for a late afternoon cappuccino at Le Pain Quotidien in the Park.
We then watched a multitude of new bad movies and a new series (Poker Face which I enjoyed).
Around midnight we succumbed to the days activities.
Perfection.
