Palm Beach Boogie…

Closing out a year that I have no perspective on.

The dictator/carnival barker who is about to ascend the U.S. self made bully throne has clouded my view of 2024.

I have not turned on the television except for an equally disturbing NY Giants football game…tv is no longer my friendy.

I did celebrate the end of the year in a regal manner.

Early Friday morning we headed to Palm Beach, a magnificent ride along the coast halted unceremoniously by Agent Orange holding court at his  ostentatious retreat, Mar-a-Lago.

Many roads and bridges leading to tony Palm Beach are shutdown so traffic is a nightmare. The assumption is half of America wants to rid the country of this unsightly blemish so the area is a fortified kingdom. We all pay for this huge mistake one way or another.

Unfettered, we arrived at the pinkys up Colony Hotel for a poolside breakfast at the always trending, Swifty’s.

All breakfast items are $39 so have at it.

The crowd was very Palm Beach and we witnessed a table of five repeatedly change tables and seats trying for the best pool view. They were an unsightly bunch which should have remained hidden under the low hanging ivy canopy, but it was amusing to witness.

The overpriced food is very good and they are so de rigueur to offer PopUp Bagels with your $39 eggs and granola parfait.

The lobby is awash in beach chic.

We perused the gift shoppe and the new Dolce & Gabbana boutique.

This was followed by a stroll on designer laden Worth Avenue where the worst car on the street was a brightly hued yellow Porsche.

Denied a scenic A1A return we took the road over the intercoastal and sailed through the now hip West Palm Beach area and headed to the movie theater to see, Wicked.

Our first nonbeach day in two weeks, the theater was cold, dark and empty, a perfect combination for moviegoing.

I really do not think I have graced a cinema since before COVID and we attended  2-3 times a month.

Wicked is visually amazing, too long and showcases stellar performances from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Dinner was at the club embellished by a dry martini with blue cheese olives.

And, so concluded a delightfully wonderfully WASPY day in the Palm Beaches.

Happy New Year.

Head down and I will try to marginalize reality and plow through the circus that awaits many in this once bastion of democracy.

Cheers to your good health and wishing you happiness joy and peace in 2025.
