Up early and headed over to the Hudson River walkway.
Our destination was the west village.
The heat was on, but less humid than prior days.
The walk became challenging around mile 6, but there were visual aides and distractions along the way.
The city opened a new floating park called Little Island, which is located on the Hudson River on Manhattan’s west side.
Business mogul Barry Diller and his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, have funded the majority of the project and have committed $160 million to help with maintaining the Park over the next 20 years.
The bouquet of tulip shaped columns afford great vista points and lend itself to a stage for ongoing performances.
The Park will feature numerous family oriented summer concerts.
Little Island is open daily 6am-1am. No tickets necessary until after noon and time stamped admissions can be obtained for free online.
We stopped for lunch mostly to hydrate and rest.
We scoped out Restoration Hardware for decorating ideas and then made our way through the bustling Meatpacking District and arrived home around 5pm after the 91/2 mile journey to watch the NY Yankees pull out a miraculous come from behind win over the Boston Red Sox.
A perfect summer day in the greatest city in the land.
