Myles Frost, Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’…

Mesmerizing.

If you are in NYC and you love Broadway you must see Myles Frost in MJ The Musical.

He just won the Tony for Best Leading Actor in a  Musical and is the youngest ever solo recipient.

Listen, MJ is far from the best overall musical I have ever seen, but Myles Frost is a force to be reckoned with.

He is absolutely compelling.

On the few occasions that he is not front and center the show drags.

Beat It, the opening number, the Fosse New York sequence, Thriller and the finale are riveting.

And you really have to be tone deaf not to appreciate Michael’s music and dedication to perfection.

Over 25 Jackson songs are performed in the show and it is centered around the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour.

MJ is an open portrayal of his father and highlights the physical and emotional issues Jackson had to endure.

MJ is a biographical jukebox genre with a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winning Christopher Wheeldon.

Having worked and spent person time with the family I was intrigued by the openness of the story.

Myles Frost came out of nowhere.

He is a self taught dancer, learning his moves from YouTube videos.

His mother had recorded his one time high school performance of Billie Jean and put it on YouTube   years ago.

Fast forward to his junior year in college. The original lead had just dropped out of the Covid postponed Broadway production to make a movie.

Frost had just started working with an acting coach.
He received an early morning phone from him last May 27th, requesting an updated video of his Michael Jackson performance. He had none, but secured a studio and pulled it together.

After the Broadway production team watched the updated video he had a callback for an in-person audition and the rest is history.

Do not miss Myles Frosts’ performance.

This Man In the Mirror will make you reflect on his amazing performance.
