Me, Myself & I…

Time alone can be challenging.

On a beach surrounded by turquoise water, white sand, an azure sky, enticing cocktails and a good book, it’s easy to be distracted and feel fulfilled.

When you are exhausted there is sleep to anticipate.

When you have surgery and are physically restricted the options are limited.

All of a sudden you are confronted with life’s realities.

Television and the hundreds of offerings are surprisingly limited. Reading is rough because the anesthesia after effects linger and the meds make you groggy.

Physical activity is greatly reduced so what’s left is hand to hand combat with yourself and the same questions running through your mind like a chyron at the bottom of a TV screen.

Did I experience enough in life, why can’t I come up with the next great novel, app, table crumb sweeper?

Why is losing weight so challenging?

Have I made a difference in the world?

It is exhausting so I need to just live in the moment, do my exercises and think positively.

You also find out who your real friends are.

I am so fortunate to have an amazing husband and daughter.

Some people really surprise you. My daughter’s dear friend just sent me the most gorgeous flowers, along with several other very thoughtful people.

Those are the moments to cherish along with an infrequent Yankee win and some satisfying soft serve.

Prescription for the day…be kind to yourself.

Forward not backwards.

been there several times and know how hard it is…especially for someone who is so used to being on the go just about all of the time. Relax and breath and do those exercises. this is just a blip in life and soon you will be up better than before. It is so true about reading…..hard to focus…all the books that good meaning friends send sit in a pile waiting. hope you are up and about soon…..without a cane ,crutches or someones arm. Much love…it gets better day by day.
    much love
