Sunday joy is darn near impossible to come by if you are a NY Giants fan.
You find fulfillent where you can before the 1pm kickoff.
The family recently found solace and a bountiful brunch at The Loyal in Greenwich Village.
The restaurant is a charming destination.
After being offered the worst table in the restaurant (do we look bridge and tunnel) we decided to sit at the bar.
Our daughter recognized Victoria, the lovely, accommodating bartender who had tended to her party’s needs the previous weekend.
It was a wise decision as Victoria set the mood for a delightful morning before yet another NY Giants boring and sloppy loss.
Courtny recommended that David order the divine Eggs Benjamin, a new twist on the traditional brunch dish with smoked salmon, potato latkes embellished with hollandaise sauce ($18).
Courtny went with the Egg Sandwich which was adorned with chicken sausage, kale, melted gruyere on a brioche bun ($14).
The sandwich was very good. I passed on our share as it has a red pepper aoili which is off limits for me.
We split a tasty burrata salad accented with a fabulous thick pesto sauce, croutons and fresh figs ($16).
I then ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with dill pickle mayonnaise, crispy lettuce on a hawaiian bun. The chicken was crispy and the combo delectable ($25).
Victoria added to the celebration by pouring us a glass of delectable bubbly.
The Loyal opened its’ doors last September.
Mr. Fraser also owns the vegetarian restaurant, Nix, and until recently, Narcissa and the recently shuttered Dovetail on the upper west side.
The Loyal is a delicious mash up of brasseries, trattorias and Americana.
Satiated, we headed out to stroll the Village and walk off brunch before we faced the firing squad.
The Loyal was definitely our Sunday highlight.
Note: the review was written before the Giants last 2 wins!
Brunch is much more enjoyable of late.
