Le Rock Rocks…NYC Restaurant Review

Rockefeller Center has had a major food overhaul.

Le Rock is one of the new jewels in the crown.

Le Rock owners are chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson of Frenchette fame.

Ideally situated across from the iconic Rockefeller Rink Le Rock boasts a stately and elegant entryway and a well appointed dining room. The entire space has an Art Deco vibe.

We dined with a plethora of suits. Failed mayoral candidate Andrew Yang was suited and present.

Le Rock cherry-picks elements from the bistros, brasseries and grand cafes of France, providing top notch service.

When in France…we started with Cervelle de Canut, a traditional cheese specialty from Lyon comprised of fromage Blanc, creme fraiche and fresh herbs. The creamy spread was accompanied by slices of warm, crunchy French baguette ($6).

The Leeks Vinaigrette arrived soon after and were elegantly unwrapped at the table.

The delicious roasted leek whites were bundled inside leek greens and then grilled. The beautifully presented tableside reveal showcased the leeks dressed in an emerald-toned herb oil ($24).

For my main I selected Steak Haché, essentially a bunless burger, well seared on the outside and topped with a dollop of Normandy butter. A mini, very tasty salad adorned the plate ($38).

The French Fries were prepared to perfection.

The other entree was sweet Moules dressed in a Thai Curry creamy sauce ($24).

We were gifted with a lovely, palate cleansing Grapefruit Sorbet which rounded out the delectable lunch ($14).

If you are shopping in midtown, heading to the theater or skating at the Rockefeller Rink then you must drop into the smartly appointed Le Rock for a creative cocktail, appealing appetizer or elegant meal.

Le Rock 45 Rockefeller Plaza New York City. Open Tuesday-Saturday 12-3pm and 5:30-10pm. Reservations on Resy.
