Strange question resurfaces.

I am sitting on my patio engrossed in the azure blue sky, verdant fairway and shimmering pond wondering why I did not have a water birth with my daughter.

Water is my lorazepam. Victoria Ratliff, Parker Posey’s character on White Lotus, informed me of its benefits. I have not indulged, but I envy the state of mind and total suspension of reality that she and her husband, Timothy, are experiencing.

I have been spending four hours a day exercising in the pool on my own and with the Marvelous Mermaids.

The pool and beach are my safe place after living through fires and fractures.

Swimming and reading are my drugs of choice.

This brings me back to why I did not opt for an at home water birth. I think I’m really late to that party.
