Color the Capitol Blue and Yellow.
Let freedom ring in Ukraine.
That is the picture that was painted last night for President Biden’s State of the Union Address.
The salute to Ukraine was highlighted by the serene First Lady Jill Biden wearing electric blue and warmly embracing Oksana Markarova, the Ukrainian ambassador, as soon as she entered.
Not surprisingly, the hideous Marjorie Taylor Greene who heckled Biden from the audience wore a bright red dress I assume to pledge allegiance to Russia.
Republican Congressmen Scalise and McCarthy were sporting Russian red ties that in my opinion should have been cinched much, much tighter.
Moving forward, the president’s speech emphasized the need to get corporate America to pay taxes instead of just hard working Americans.
Additionally, extend the child tax credit, support Medicare, lower drug prices, fund the police with resources and training, preserve a woman’s right to choose, beat the opioid epidemic, enable mental health.
Voting is under attack.
Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Amendment which will restore and strengthen parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Clearly, the immediate need is to defend and aid Ukraine.
After that, I hope our bitterly divided Congress can finally put their big panties on and vote to rebuild America while keeping our democracy intact.
