Dy-No-Mite…LA Restaurant Review

Gone Fishing for a great meal and caught a whopper.

Fishing For Dynamite has been a Manhattan Beach staple for almost a decade.

I had not dined there in a very long time and I felt  it was the perfect time for a visit.

We parked 2 miles away and walked on the Manhattan Beach boardwalk that runs parallel to the wide beautiful beach, taking in the numerous mini-mansions that recently replaced the modest California homes.

It was a foggy Saturday so the beach was deserted.

We eventually walked up the hill and secured a great table outside at Fishing With Dynamite with a view of the ocean.

The interior of the restaurant is tiny.

We were tended to by a superb server.

We sampled wine and oysters to start. Loved the sweet Katamas from Massachusetts served with a delicious mignonette and fresh grated horseradish ($4.75 each).

We devoured lovely fresh chilled Peruvian Scallops with a citrus marinade ($4.25).

The Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad was fantastic highlighted by an array of goodies including, toasted hazelnuts, crispy artichokes, fresh tangerines, shaved pecorino and finished with truffled vinaigrette ($17).

The Koshihikari Rice consisting of Japanese rice with shrimp, Uni, blue crab and a cage-free egg yolk which you fold in was fabulous.

The dish is like a creamy rice porridge with a buttery flavor that is elevated with briney lumps of seafood goodness ($39).

Our server treated us to an amazing Key Lime Pie with a divine graham cracker crust and flame roasted mountain peaks of Italian lime meringue ($12).

Wonderful food and a matching atmosphere on a lazy day in Manhattan Beach.

Reel it in…Fishing With Dynamite is a real catch.
