Start your engines…back into the east coast swing of things.
As always, we hit the ground running.
We made our way through Central Park and paid homage at all our favorite sights.
Wednesday, being Courtny’s birthday as well as a work day, we took advantage of my Museum of Modern Art membership perks and arrived at MoMA by 9:15am to get an early preview of the Picasso Sculpture exhibit.
It was spectacular…more details to follow next week.
We went our separate ways and I strolled into Unilqo for the best long sleeve V-neck T-shirts ($9.90), onto Bergdorf Goodman to drool over some spectacular Valentino, Manolo and Christian Louboutin footwear and to the Zara flagship 5th Avenue for retail inspiration.
I then visited the other end of the spectrum and stopped into my new favorite store, Joe Fresh. It is definitely a step up from H&M and Forever 21. I did some damage.
Perused the new Saks Fifth Avenue windows, featuring Christian Louboutin lipstick. A couple who were sporting fanny packs, white athletic knee hi socks with khaki shorts stopped in front of the windows and looked at each and said, “Do you know who the heck Christian Louboutin is?”
From 5th and 43rd to Broadway and 47th to purchase theater tickets for Fool For Love which just opened in previews, starring Sam Rockwell and the best actress on Broadway, Nina Arianda.
I literally ran into Sam Rockwell on the way out. I tipped my Yankee cap to him and kept going.
I made a detour to the new food court by Grand Central Station, UrbanSpace Vanderbilt.
Roberta’s of Bushwick has a stand along with Delaney Chicken and lots of other goodies.
I headed home to prep for Cinderella’s coming out party with theatre and dinner planned to celebrate the Big 3-0.
The parking sign that I passed on the way home was so NYC…isn’t that Special!
On to our favorable cultural offering of the big city, Broadway.
Fool For Love is soo Sam Shepard…twisted, tangled and highly emotionally charged. The acting was superb.
We sashayed over to the new Michael White hotspot, Vaucluse, which recently opened in the elegant former Park Avenue Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter space…review to follow.
All in all it was quite the birthday with a trip to Europe and a Proenza Schouler PS 1 bag thrown in for good measure.
One must be fortified for the thrilling 30’s…fade to black.
