Bruce Mobile…

I was born in the USA.

Now, I am going to explore America.

Hit the road by 5:30am for our first full day in the Bruce Mobile.

The Truculent Trio plus our reasons for driving cross country, Madison and Finnley, took to the open highway.

I cannot believe how many people are commuting in Los Angeles at 5:30…the freeways were packed.

Our first drive by was Las Vegas.

We gambled on not stopping and won.

No traffic and all of a sudden we were in Arizona.

The plains were wide open rimmed by rugged mountains.

I wondered how long it would take to ride horseback to New York…great aerobic workout like spin class on a horse.

Next up Utah…destination Bryce Canyon National Park.

Red Canyon

The vistas were becoming more picturesque and then we arrived at Red Canyon inside Dixie National Forest, the gateway to Bryce.

We were awestruck.

We entered the Park. Admission is $30 a car and seniors can obtain a year pass good in any national park for a mere $10.

Rainbow Point

We drove the 19 miles to Rainbow Point as there is only one road in and out.

We stopped along the way at Natural Bridge Point, Ponderosa, Aqua Canyon and they were all unbelievably beautiful.

On the way back we took the turn for Inspiration Point and hiked the 1 1/2 miles to the top.

What a view.

Truly spectacular.

The Cathedral rocks reminded us of Petra in Jordan.

We arrived at 8pm at the Holiday Inn Express in Richfield in the middle of nowhere and had dinner at The Frontier Restaurant which looked like the set of the TV show, Fresh Off The Boat.

Our Zagat rated meal was interrupted by the manager at the Holiday Inn, asking us to return and muzzle our barking dog.

Day One down, 5 to go.

Stu and I have been to Bryce a couple of times. It really doesn’t knock your socks off! Eye candy in every direction. And, it’s so accessible. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels.
