Tonight is the big bridal reveal when Bride By Design debuts its’ first of ten episodes on TLC.
Build-A-Bride is a brilliant concept for all the brides out there who yearn for one of a kind wedding gowns without having to pay couture prices.
Meet Heidi Elnora, bridal gown designer and season 2 Project Runway competitor.
The show focuses on the Alabama native’s mission to help create unique bridal gowns for clients who visit her Birmingham-based shop.
TLC aired a Bride By Design pilot last summer. The response was stellar and TLC and Heidi are now united in a captivating TV marriage every Friday night for the next 10 weeks.
Just this week, Heidi appeared on a featured segment of The Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford.
Tonight’s season premiere will feature Tia, a bride looking to stand out among her fellow brides as the eighth woman to get engaged to a member the Atlanta Braves in the past year…the Braves are really hitting home runs.
Kayla, another featured soon to be bride, will pick a dress from Elnora’s “Build-A-Bride” collection that allows brides to choose from an elegant design while adding on personal touches to turn the basic gown into a one of a kind wedding dress.
I was introduced to Heidi Elnora and her Build-A-Bride concept last year by my accomplished, creative daughter who is a high energy, successful TV agent.
She had just sold the pilot, Bride By Design, to TLC.
No nepotism here…I really admire the idea and wanted to spread the bridal gospel. Hallelujah, Heidi and kudos to executive producer, Dana Leiken Richards for delivering an interesting and appealing labor of love.
Eight years ago, Heidi created Build-A-Bride.
She uses the collection to add special touches to each dress. Start with an elegant, simple wedding dress (Coco Marie design), mix and match pre-made pieces such as peplums, belts, lace overlays, sleeves and embellish until the perfect wedding gown is created.
At Heidi’s Alabama boutique, which is an unlikely location for a renowned bridal designer, cookie-cutter gowns are nowhere to be found as brides clamor for Heidi’s custom gowns and her very own Build-A-Bride collection.
The Birmingham, Alabama-born designer graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2002 and started her fashion career in Atlanta, designing children’s clothing for Carter’s.
Bridal fashion had always been a dream and after her appearance on Project Runway, Heidi decided to dedicate herself to making it a reality.
She launched the Heidi Elnora brand in November, 2006. She hired a talented team of garment artisans and established her place in the bridal fashion industry by constructing gowns with impeccable detail and modern lines.
Heidi’s gowns can be found in Nordstroms and numerous boutiques around the world. Her designs have been featured in such publications as Brides Magazine, Town & Country, Lucky, The New York Times and Martha Stewart Weddings.
She is the mastermind behind Birmingham Fashion Week, which showcases Southern fashion and benefits local youth.
Her southern charm wins clients over. I am busy trying to convince my husband that we should renew our vows…I want to delve into Build-A-Bride and create an outrageous Heidi Elnora original.
I can already picture myself floating down the aisle to the romantic sounds of Billy Idol’s, White Wedding.
Bride By Design on TLC, March 27th, 2015 at 9pm, 8 Central. Produced by Trium Entertainment. Executive producer Dana Leiken Richards.
