Today I am serious…I am declaring this Tacit Thursday.

Bear with me and let’s take a realistic look at America’s workplace.

Alternative Fact: Trump will bring jobs back to America, changing today’s landscape which is populated with unemployed Americans.

Fact: There are 95 million working-age Americans no longer in the workforce.

Reality: Experts believe an unprecedented wave of job destruction is coming with the development of artificial intelligence, robotics, software and automation.

Question: Was Fuhrer Trump to busy tweeting to read the report published by The White House last month that reinforced this view:

• 83% of the jobs where people make less than $20 per hour will be subject to automation or replacement.
• Between 9% and 47% of jobs are in danger of being made irrelevant due to technological change, with the worst threats falling among the less educated.
• Between 2.2 and 3.1 million car, bus and truck driving jobs in the U.S. will be eliminated by the advent of self-driving vehicles.

Statistically, unemployment is only 4.6%, but is this accurate?

Actually, automation has already eliminated about 4 million manufacturing jobs in the U.S. since 2000. 

 The labor participation rate is now at only 62.7%, a rate right below El Salvador and right above the Ukraine.

Interesting vacation spots, but examples of countries comparable to America?

Say what?!

Fact: Instead of keeping people out of the country, fretting about his popularity and bullying Nordstrom, shouldn’t Agent Orange be rallying the best and the brightest…innovation being our reality.

The alternative reality of returning manufacturing will not return millions of Americans to the workforce.

This new reality is frightening and that is not an alternative fact.

The reality is education.

Without education we don’t have a shot.

Of course, the future of public schools especially in challenged inner cities, is up for debate now with the appointment of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.

Parents, local representatives, city council members, teacher’s unions, grass roots movements, rise up.

The future of America is under your watch.

Education is how you keep America great and of course eliminating Agent Orange.
