A Slice of Pizza Heaven In LA…

Culture stimulates the mind.

And the appetite.

After spending a lovely afternoon at the Marciano Art Foundation we found our eyes satiated, but our tummies were craving inspiration.

When near Hancock Park, Pizzeria Mozza is a satisfying classic and a no brainer.

I made a reservation and a mere ten minutes later, we found street parking and were headed to the best pizza establishment in Los Angeles.

LA is improving when it comes to pizza, but it is still not New York City.

Pizzeria Mozza is consistently delicious, highlighted by serving up creative, delectable artisanal pies.

The intimate restaurant was packed. We were 20 minutes early so we decided to sit at the bar and adsorb the action.

I ordered a fabulous Prosecco to kick things despite the fact that it was a Thursday afternoon…yes, I am a wild child.

Arugula Salad

The simple Arugula Salad with Funghi and Piave (Italian cow’s milk cheese), lightly dresser with olive oil and a dash of sea salt was fantastic ($14).

We went rogue and ordered the pizzetta consisting of creamed spinach, leeks, egg, lemon zest, fontina and parmigiana cheese.

The crust is consistently first rate.

The server suggested we order the larger size which was plenty as we ended up taking part of the absolutely fabulous pizza home ($24/ small $16).

There are 15 craft pizzas to choose from…Meyer lemon was the secret ingredient of the day.

Also offered are seven tomato based pizzas.

The menu features roasted vegetables, paninis, brushetta and meats, including speck, salami, prosciutto as well as a potpourri of salads and antipasti…olives, cauliflower, squash blossom, chicken wings, meatballs, bone marrow and cheeses ($10-$16).

The atmosphere is convivial and sitting at the bar provides a sideshow of how to make and bake a pizza.

The team of Joe Bastianich and Nancy Silverton maintain the Mozza excellence.

You can never go wrong with Pizzeria Mozza.
