I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.
I was watching the news early Saturday morning and they showed a video of a good samaritan jumping into the chilly water in Arlington, Massachusetts to save an “elderly” woman who accidentally drove her SUV into the lake.
I applaud the gentleman’s life saving response.
My issue is with the reporter labeling the 67 year-old woman as elderly.
This appears to be the norm.
I am embarrassed to admit that I have downloaded the NY Post app.
It is a despicable paper, but the sports section is good if you are a NY sports fan.
The newspaper writers consider anyone over 55 ancient.
The local TV news in New York recently mentioned an elderly grandmother who was a victim of a mugging…age 58.
Los Angeles lowers the bar even further. Before I left town, a KABC reporter featured the fatality of a senior, age 51.
People are living longer.
Shouldn’t the media reassess their attitude regarding age?
My mother is 96 and is deeply offended when she is labeled elderly.
Come on people….reality check time.
Discard those inappropriate labels.
